Versatile and educated in both classical and popular terms, Anthony Perez is one of the leading trumpet players of his generation. Prepared from a very early age by Maestro Jose Antonio Abreu’s El Sistema, he is a member of the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela, conducted by Maestro Gustavo Dudamel. Anthony also plays inside the Venezuelan Brass Quintet in addition to Aquiles Baez, Rafael “Pollo” Brito and the Movida Acústica Urbana (Acoustic Urban Movement), popular music bands.
Anthony has played in some of the most extremely important stages in more than 30 countries, including the BBC Proms , Carnegie Hall in New York, Berliner Konzerthaus, Teatro Alla Scalla , Salzburg Festival, amongst others. He participated in the recording of various CDs and Dvd disks with the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela intended for Deutsche Grammophone, including Mambo, Dudamel Mahler 8, Rite, and the 2008 Latin Grammy nominated, Fiesta.
He is the creator of the Venezuelan Brass Quintet, and founder and conductor of the Titan Brass and Percussion Ensemble. With these two ensembles, Anthony has played performances at national and worldwide levels, including a double quintet concert in the USA and Canada with the world-renowned quintet The Canadian Brass.
Among well-known music in his home country, Anthony has played with many listed artists from Venezuela, which includes but not limited to María Teresa Chacín, Desorden Público, Servando y Florentino, Apache, Rawayana, Gaélica, Alfred Gómez Jr., Okills, Laura Guevara, Americania, Vargas, Tomates Fritos, Viniloversus, Onechot.
With the Venezuelan Instruments Ensemble, conducted by Maestro Thomas Clamor, Anthony has participated in various tours and in addition played as a soloist in the South Bank Centre’s Royal Festival in London, and alongside famous trumpeter, Tine Thine Helseth in Stavanger, Norwegian. With this ensemble he recorded a CD intended for EMI Classic, and a live DVD in Germany for Euroarts.
Anthony has performed in various concerts (as soloist and as part of the orchestra) with Tachira’s Youth Symphony Orchestra, Simon Bolivar Superior Conservatory of Music, Symphony Orchestra of the Andes Countries (CAF), Venezuela’s National Children Orchestra, Latin American Symphony Orchestra, Falcon Symphony Orchestra, and Chacao Youth Symphony Orchestra.
His willpower and perseverance has earned him national and worldwide scholarships to study under Maestros Gentil Ramírez, Jairo Hernández, Franck Pulcini, Antoine Cure, Laurent Malet, Pierre Thibaud, Jeffrey Segal, Marcel Lagorce, Pierre Dutot, Hans Gansch, Claudio Roditi and Gustavo Bergalli.
